Peer Counseling and Support
Support groups bring together persons with disabilities to collectively share experiences, knowledge and skills. A few of the groups sponsored by ARECIL include: (please call the Center to make sure about dates and times. Sometimes, meetings are re-scheduled for special presentations or presenters)
- Active Access Support Group: Monthly meetings to unite individuals who use scooters or wheelchairs for mobility within the community. This includes training and education on the use and maintenance of the equipment as well as recreation and socialization activities.
- Care Givers Support Group: Monthly meetings (usually the forth Wednesday of each month at 1:30) that provide education, referral services, support and assistance to families and professionals involved in care giving.
- Grief Support Group: Monthly meetings that give support to those experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. (usually the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30)
- Low Vision Support Group: Monthly meetings in both Carbon and Emery Counties with peers to learn techniques to adapt to their disability. Skills and experiences are shared.
